The elf is a fictional hominid originating from a wide variety of fantasy universes such as The Lord of the Rings and World of Warcraft, but it originated in Germanic folklore.

They've been depicted as being three different sizes, such as being the size of a normal human, to the size of a child or small enough to fit in one's hand. They are universally portrayed as humanoids with pointed ears.
