Fiction Taxonomy Wiki

The Ghast is a fictional cnidarian that originates from the Minecraft universe.

Description[]

Despite being physical, Ghasts resemble lost spirits. Their facial expression is perpetually sad, supported by their periodic crying sounds. They mostly reside in the Soul Sand Valley, but also live in the Nether Wastes and Basalt Deltas. Ghasts have nine tentacles that serve little purpose.

Ghasts attack humans. Its main method of attacking is to shoot fireballs from its mouth, which stays closed unless attacking. The fireball, compacted from explosive materials and body heat, causes a large, hot explosion on impact.

Ghasts are shown to be immune from intense heat, as they do not receive any damage when soaked in lava.

The Ghast shares many similarities with modern cnidarians, which include the possession of tentacles. Supporting that the Ghast probably evolved from aquatic cnidarians.

Ghasts are also used as aerial vehicles. In A Minecraft Movie, they are used as hot-air balloons for the Piglins.

Dried Ghast, Ghastling, and Happy Ghast[]

Dried Ghasts are dwarf-sized ghasts that appear as taupe-colored entities. At first, they are incapable of locomotion due to dehydration from the hostile environment of the Nether. When water was added to the organism, the Ghast absorbs the liquid, then shows a smile since it appreciates the hydrating effect of the water. After a matter of time, that Ghast is now capable of locomotion; now we call that creature a Ghastling. Ghastlings are larger than dried Ghasts, but they are smaller than their original counterparyts. These Ghasts appear similar to the usual Ghast, but they have a smiling facial feature and gill-like structures on their sides. Ghastlings usually wander around the area, exploring the new environment around them. Additionally, they also follow mobs or players until they are bored. Eventually, Ghastlings become Happy Ghasts as time passes; That process can be sped up by feeding one snowballs. A Happy Ghast appears as a typical, normal-sized Ghast, but it shows a smiling face in the organism's lifetime compared to its regular counterpart. Unlike normal Ghasts, this type of Ghast does not pose harm to humans, and allows the player to ride on it when equipped with a harness. However, Happy Ghasts do not spit fireballs and are not resistant to fire compared to their regular counterparts.

Reproduction[]

Currently, the Ghast's method of reproduction is still unknown, yet the addition of the dried ghast, ghastling, and happy ghast might support this.
